At Friluftsliv Topptur fall you will get a semester with lots of time in the mountains, climbing and varied outdoor activities. We go on top hikes, stay in tents, climb and explore the mountains in Western Norway together with others who share an interest in nature and outdoor activities.
You don't need to know everything beforehand. Through trips and courses you learn new skills and become safer and more independent in the mountains.
Mountains, tents and glaciers
Autumn brings us long days in the mountains. We go on summit hikes in Western Norway , from shorter day trips to longer trips with tents and base camps. Along the way, you learn orientation with a map and compass, first aid, trip planning and tent life , and gain experience in adapting the trips to weather and conditions.
On a glacier course you learn how to safely travel on a glacier, how to use crampons and ice axes, and how to move together in a rope team. It also gives us the opportunity to explore mountains and areas that require a little more knowledge and equipment.
We also travel to Hoddevika to surf , and get to experience high mountains and life on the coast.
Climbing and new challenges
Climbing is an important part of the fall. We climb both indoors and outdoors and use, among other things, Sognahallen and the climbing fields around Sogndal. You learn about belaying, rope use and equipment , and get challenges that suit your level. The goal is that you will become safer as a climber and gain experience that you can take with you further.
Throughout the semester we alternate between days on the climbing field, summit hikes, glaciers, camping and other outdoor activities. Some days challenge you physically, while others allow time for a campfire, good conversations and life on the go.
An important part of the semester is the study trip to Italy . We travel through Europe and experience new mountain areas, with mountain hikes, climbing and outdoor activities in a landscape that is different from home in Sogndal. The trip will be an opportunity to use what we have learned throughout the fall, experience new places and share many days on the road together.
Throughout the fall, you will gain experience from different types of terrain and activities, and knowledge that will make you better equipped to plan and carry out your own trips.

Study trips
Study trip fall : Climbing in Italy
On this journey, we travel through several countries by train and boat - an adventurous way to explore Europe.
-
We start the journey by train through Germany and Austria, before arriving in Innsbruck. Here we spend time in the mountains, both on foot and with climbing equipment, before continuing across the border to Arco in northern Italy.
Arco is known for its great climbing environment, and here we will have several days of climbing outdoors. We will build on what we have learned at home in Sogndal, try new routes and develop ourselves as climbers. There will also be mountain hikes and Via Ferrata.
We are planning a day trip to the Dolomites, where we will experience a completely different mountain landscape and challenge ourselves on airy routes.
Along the way, we also have time to experience the places we visit. We travel through several countries, visiting both cities and mountainous areas, and get to know a bit of the culture and life along the way.
The study trip gives us the opportunity to use what we have learned throughout the fall in new surroundings. We climb, hike in the mountains, try new challenges and spend many days on the road together.
