About applying
Admissions start on November 15th, and there is ongoing admissions, meaning you can apply until school starts at the end of August.
Admissions start on November 15th and there is no application deadline. You can apply whenever you want, and we will admit students continuously from the time admissions start until we have available places. It may be worth applying early to get a place in the course you want most.
The school has an age limit of 18. However, there may be exceptions, in which case please contact us directly.
In your application, we would like you to write a little about yourself, your background, and why you want to spend a year at a folk high school.
Your application will be reviewed the same day we receive it. We will send you a response both electronically and by regular mail.
If you have any questions that you would like answered before submitting your application, we will be happy to answer them if you contact us.

For international students
At Sogndal folk high school, we welcome many international students every year. This creates an open, inclusive and supportive environment for students from all over the world.
All information is provided in English, so language will not be a problem. Our teachers are highly qualified within their fields and are used to teaching in English. This means that, as an international student, you are welcome to apply for all of our courses .
Please note that we have a limited number of places for non-EU/EEA applicants . Due to regulations in the Norwegian Folk High School Act, we can offer up to 10 places for students from outside the EU/EEA each year. These places are filled quickly, so we strongly recommend applying early.
We also have current students who act as student ambassadors . If you would like to get in touch with an international student who is attending the school this year, please contact us and we will be happy to share their contact information.
