Information about us

Sogndal Bed & Breakfast is located in beautiful surroundings a few hundred meters from Sogndal city center. We have lovely views of mountains and fjords, and great outdoor areas that you as a guest can use. Here you will find a sand volleyball court, artificial grass court and an amphitheater. A pier was recently built by the fjord just below us, with built-in sun loungers/beds and the possibility of swimming.

We have three dormitories at the school; Fjellinternatet (new in 2013), Hageinternatet (newly renovated) and Kontorbygget. At Fjellinternatet there is a bathroom in the rooms. This building consists of 10 double rooms and 4 single rooms. At Hageinternatet we have 24 double rooms and 8 single rooms, these are divided into sections where there are 3 double rooms and 1 single room per section. One section shares 1 bathroom, 2 toilets and 2 showers. In Kontorbygget we have 12 rooms with private bathrooms, where 6 rooms share 1 kitchen which is often rented out in the summer as a long-term rental.

In total, we have 104 beds at Sogndal Bed & Breakfast, and there is a sofa bed in all rooms at Fjellinternatet.

Sogndal is located in the heart of many attractions. About 1 hour from Sogndal Bed & Breakfast, on the south side of the Sognefjord, you will find Aurland. Here lies Stegasteinen, a great viewpoint on the mountain and in the same municipality, about 15 minutes from Aurlandsvangen you will find the world-famous Flåm Railway. You can also take a boat trip to Nærøyfjorden and end up in Gudvangen where the Viking Village is located.

North-east of Sogndal, towards Sognefjellet, you will find several other attractions. Here you can drive down to Solvorn, a beautiful summer pearl, and take the ferry over to Ornes. Here you can visit Urnes Stave Church (which is on UNESCO's World Heritage List), and Urnes farm and Deer Farm. Otherwise, it is possible to buy locally produced strawberries and raspberries on the way up to the church. On the same side of the fjord, towards Skjolden, you will find both Feigumfossen and further on Sørheim you will see the house where Lerum Fabrikkar started. Furthermore, you drive towards Sogndal again, but already in Gaupne you will find Lustrabadet and the exit to Jostedalen, where you can visit Europe's largest glacier on the mainland; Jostedalsbreen.

In Sogndal there are many great hiking trails. Among other things, you can take a trip to the day trip cabin Stedjestova, or walk all the way up to the top of Nuken, which is located at 919 m.a.s.l. from the center. Fjordstien, just below the center, is a great trip to walk. You can walk all the way from us to Sjøkanten. Or the region's largest shopping center is here with 50 stores. There is a vibrant life in the center of Sogndal, which in the vernacular is called Fjøra. Experience park life, shops and cafes; such as Dampskipskaien, Lustrabui and Park Café Sogndal.

Last but not least, you must visit the Sogn Folkemuseum - De Heibergske sollimnar , which is a 10-minute drive from Sogndal towards Kaupanger! Here you will find the exhibition for the 150th anniversary of Sogndal Folk High School, the fairy forest with Bukkane bruse and many beautiful animals.

Here you are in the middle of a region, with plenty of opportunities and experiences! You can drive a RIB boat on the Lustrafjord, explore stave churches throughout the region, such as Urnes, Kaupanger, Borgund. Kraftgata at Kaupanger is a well-known area for trail cycling, as well as the newly asphalted pump track in the same village.

We hope you spend your summer vacation in Sogn!
