Sogndal Bed & Breakfast is a quiet and pleasant place to stay, with beautiful views from the dining room and a cozy apple orchard where you can sit down with a good book and enjoy the peace.
We are centrally located for those who want to experience the best of the Sognefjord and the surrounding areas, with a short distance to Flåm, Balestrand, Luster and Fjærland, among others.
The area offers fantastic nature and many great hiking opportunities, and popular Molden is just a short drive away.
Bed and breakfast
We are open for overnight stays from June 16th through the night of August 8th. Prices include breakfast, bed linen and towels.
Breakfast is served in our dining room from 7:30 to 9:30, with a lovely view of the beautiful landscape around us.
Here you can start your day with freshly baked bread and rolls, yogurt and muesli from our muesli buffet, fresh fruit and a good selection of spreads.
We also serve coffee from Sognefjord Kaffibrenneri, locally roasted here in Sogndal.
Facilities
In our yard we have a communal kitchen that you are welcome to use to prepare your own meals. We also have washing machines and dryers that our guests can use for free.
You must bring your own detergent.
Please note that all of our double rooms have two separate single beds (twin beds).

Beautiful surroundings and good facilities
Sogndal Bed & Breakfast is located in beautiful surroundings, just a few hundred meters from Sogndal city center. Here you can enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains and fjord, and make use of our nice outdoor areas.
The area includes a sand volleyball court, artificial turf field and an amphitheater. Just below us is a pier by the fjord, with built-in sun loungers and good opportunities for a refreshing swim on hot summer days.
Accommodation
We have three boarding buildings: the Mountain Boarding House, the Garden Boarding House and the Office Building.
The mountain boarding house was built in 2013 and has a private bathroom in every room. The building consists of 12 double rooms and 2 single rooms. Most of the rooms also have a sofa bed.
The garden boarding house has been recently renovated and has 24 double rooms and 8 single rooms. The rooms are organized into departments with three double rooms and one single room. Each department has a shared bathroom, two toilets and two showers.
The office building has 12 apartments with private bathrooms. Six of the apartments share a kitchen. These apartments are often rented out to long-term residents during the summer.
In total, Sogndal Bed & Breakfast has 104 beds, and we offer various accommodation options suitable for individuals, families and groups.
Experiences in Sogn
Sogndal is located in the middle of an area with a wide range of nature experiences, activities and exciting attractions. From here you have a good starting point for exploring the Sognefjord and the beautiful surrounding villages.
Flåm, Aurland and the Nærøyfjord
About an hour's drive from Sogndal, on the south side of the Sognefjord, lies Aurland. Here you will find the Stegastein viewpoint , where you can experience a spectacular panoramic view of the Aurlandsfjord.
In the same area is Flåm, known for the popular Flåm Railway , a spectacular train journey through the Flåm Valley. You can also take a boat trip on the beautiful Nærøyfjord and disembark in Gudvangen, where you will find the Viking Village.
Solvorn, Ornes and Lustrafjorden
Northeast of Sogndal, on the way to Sognefjellet, you will find several great destinations. Take a trip to Solvorn, an idyllic fjord village that is especially beautiful in the summer. From here, you can take a ferry across the fjord to Ornes and visit the Urnes Stave Church , which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
On the way inland along the Lustrafjord you will find the impressive Feigumfossen waterfall. At Sørheim you can see the area where Lerum started its business. In Gaupne is Lustrabadet , and from here the road also leads into Jostedalen and Jostedalsbreen , mainland Europe's largest glacier.
Hiking opportunities in Sogndal
Sogndal offers many great hiking opportunities, whether you want a leisurely stroll or a more demanding mountain hike. You can visit the Stedjestova day trip hut or hike all the way to the top of Nuken, which is 919 meters above sea level. Both are great options for those who want to experience the nature around Sogndal.
The Fjord Path, just below the city center, is perfect for a pleasant walk along the fjord. You can follow the path from us all the way to Sjøkanten.
Shopping, cafes and city life
In the center of Sogndal, which is colloquially called Fjøra, you will find a lively center with shops, cafes and pleasant meeting places. Here you can stroll around, enjoy a good cup of coffee or have a snack at the cafe Det Gule Huset .
You will also find Thon Senter Sogningen , the region's shopping mall with a good selection of shops.
History and culture at Kaupanger
Just about a ten-minute drive from Sogndal, in the direction of Kaupanger, is De Heibergske Samlinger – Sogn Folkemuseum . Here you can explore historic buildings, learn more about life in Sogn through the ages and experience exciting exhibitions. The museum also has animals and a fairy forest that is great to visit with children.
More experiences in the region
Sogn offers experiences for every taste. You can join a RIB tour on the Lustrafjord, visit the historic stave churches in Urnes, Kaupanger and Borgund or explore the region by bicycle.
For those who enjoy trail cycling, Kraftgata in Kaupanger is a popular area. Here you will also find an asphalt pump track for cycling fun for all ages.
