Common excursions
The whole school together on a trip, we go on three group trips during the school year.
“It's when the whole school does things together that I really feel the community”
Get to know Aurlandsdalen by hiking
The whole school goes to Aurlandsdalen , a valley known for its beautiful nature.
We spend the night at the tourist cabin at Østerbø. Here we eat good food, spend time together and get to know each other.
During the trip we practice kayak rescue and navigation . There is room to learn basic skills, try new things and develop the skills you already have.
The next day we walk together down Aurlandsdalen. This is one of the first trips we have together, and a great way to get to know fellow students, teachers and the area around the school.
The trip is about outdoor activities, learning and community , and about getting a good start to the year.
Skiing in Hemsedal
In week 3 the whole school travels over the mountains to Hemsedal. We live right on the slopes , perfect for ski in and ski out.
We get three full days on the slopes , with plenty of time to develop your skiing technique and learn something new. Students are divided into small groups according to level , and you can choose between mountain skiing, telemark and slalom/randonné . We have teachers from the school, in addition to some hired instructors.
Every day we have two sessions of instruction , and the rest of the time you can use for freeriding.
In the evenings we gather for a nice dinner and socializing in the common room. The Hemsedal trip is a really nice winter trip where the whole school gets some good days together.
Boat trip in Nærøyfjorden
Towards the end of the school year, we go on a two-day boat cruise on the Sognefjord. We have the whole boat to ourselves and sail into the majestic Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord. In beautiful Dyrdal, a roadless hamlet, we stay overnight. Here there are good opportunities for outdoor activities and mountain hikes for those who want it. We live on board the boat, in the schoolhouse, and for the most outdoor-loving, in tents. In the afternoon, we make barbecue on the quay, and arrange for social gathering around the campfire in the evening.
The next day we walk along the north side of the Nærøyfjord on the beautiful postal road to Styvi. Here we have lunch, which is barbecue, and for the extra tough ones, there is the possibility to take a refreshing dip in the fjord.
