Study tours spring 2016
These days it's quiet at school, because after Easter all our classes have gone on a study trip. They have excitedly arrived at Gardermoen one by one to travel to their destination.
The photo trip was first out and traveled to Vietnam on Easter Monday, more specifically Hanoi. They travel around and have so far been to Monkey Island, in Sapa and right now they are in Dong Hoi. In addition to taking a lot of pictures, they have kayaked, met the monkeys on Monkey Island, walked along the rice fields in Sapa and today they have been to a cave called Paradise cave. The next few days they will go on a bike ride to Phong Nha Ke Bang national park before they will travel to Hoi An. Here the photo trip will be for a few days before returning to Hanoi and traveling to Norway again.
This year there are two classes on the Outdoor Activities line, where one class has traveled to the USA and the other to Nepal. The USA group traveled on March 29th and is in beautiful nature. They camp out in tents/under the open sky and have many activities during the day. The first few days they paddled/rafted on the San Juan River, before visiting Natural Bridges National Monument, White Canyon and then on to the Grand Canyon. The next few days they will go on a long hike in the Grand Canyon, hike up to Humphrey`s Peak before traveling on to Prescott where they will stay a few days before driving back to Mancos and getting ready to leave for home.
On Wednesday, March 30, the remaining students left. The Nepal group started the trip with paragliding before traveling further on the trekking trip. Here they will go from village to village in Nepal's beautiful nature with mighty mountains. The first day they ended in Birethanti which is located at 1,050 m above sea level before going via Bhanthanti (2,250 m above sea level), Ghorepani (2,860 m above sea level) before ending at Poon Hill 3,210 m above sea level with great views of the Himalayas, including the Annapurnas, Dhaulagiri and Fish Tail on a clear day. Then they continued the trekking trip until they ended in Pokhara. Here they will stay an extra day for river rafting before going to Kathmandu the next day. Here they will visit the orphanage Lovely Children's Home and get information about Fair Trade Group Nepal. Then the trip home for this group.
Ski and Climbing have taken a trip to the Alps. The first few days they have been riding in the lift system before they have a rest day before a longer cabin-to-cabin trip with summit hikes. They have been in Innsbruck for a while and look like they are having a great time skiing!
Sports are in Spain and first out was Barcelona. They have seen the city from the saddle of a bicycle, attended a basketball game and last but not least they were at Camp Nou and saw FC Barcelona against Real Madrid, of course el classico. Now they have traveled further to Torrejeva in the south where they are at a training camp for the rest of their stay before the trip back home. Here there will be swimming, volleyball, football - yes everything you can imagine!
Some of our students post pictures on Instagram - you can find them under #sogndalfhs. Below we have collected a bunch of pictures showing the students on trips. Here you can see pictures from Skiing and Climbing, Outdoor Activities (Nepal), Photo Travel and Sports.
