Sogndal Folk High School is a free-spirited folk high school. It is located in the heart of the most beautiful nature that Western Norway has to offer. All of our courses actively utilize both the mountains and fjords around us. Our goal is to facilitate academic and personal development for students so that they can better take responsibility for themselves, for society and for the environment. Sogndal Folk High School will be a pioneering school in sustainability, where our teaching methods will give students hope and tools to live sustainable lives. Now we need more committed teachers.
Every year, around a hundred students from Norway and abroad come to delve into their interests. Working as a teacher with us is rewarding; during the year you will eat, sleep, laugh, travel and learn together with motivated students. The school year is short and intense with trips, teaching, weekend and evening events and social educational work. The teachers are responsible for developing the lines they will teach. In addition, it is emphasized that you have interests and competence that can be used in elective and core subjects.
50% substitute for the school year 2021-2022
We have a vacancy for an elective and general subject teacher. We want to have a wide range of elective courses. Therefore, we will emphasize competence in subjects such as music, other creative subjects and sustainable development. 100% permanent position from 01.08.2021:
We have a vacancy in the "Outdoor Activities Norway" program. We are looking for a teacher with teaching skills and experience from outdoor activities in different environments. It would be an advantage to have teaching skills for several of our programs.
80-100% substitute for the school year 2021-2022
We have a vacancy in the "Ski and Bike" course. We are looking for a teacher with teaching skills and experience in trail cycling, ski touring, avalanche knowledge and outdoor activities in general.
80% temporary work from 01.08.2021 to 10.11.2021
We have a vacancy for a teacher in the "Outdoor Activities" program. We are looking for a teacher with teaching skills and experience from outdoor activities in various environments.
What do we want in terms of expertise?
- Experience from school, folk high school or similar
- Higher education in relevant subjects or solid relevant experience
- Pedagogical education
Social and educational work is integrated into the positions; including as a supervisor evening/weekend, and at various evening and weekend events.
