Dear friends of Sogndal Folk High School

The anniversary year was very different from what the school and we in the committee had envisioned. The pandemic that is still raging has effectively put a stop to planned events. The big party for former and current employees, students and guests from the Norwegian public sector that was planned for January is in doubt. The national meeting of the Folkehøgskoleforbundet was supposed to be held at the school at the end of May. It has been canceled and will be held digitally.

When much is not possible, it is therefore with great pleasure to announce that the school, in collaboration with De Heibergske Samlinger, has managed to realize an exhibition in the old school room from 1885, - "Sogndal Folk High School through 150 years".

This opens on Sunday, May 2, at the same time as the museum is ready for a new summer season.

We hope that many of you will visit the museum during the season and take a look inside the old schoolroom. Here you will be greeted by today's students who will welcome you. Then you will travel back in time. 150 years is a long time and there is not enough room for many details and chapters in history.

We have emphasized highlighting some of the central figures who were at the forefront of the school's establishment, the most important milestones in the school's development and how the school's content and student base have changed in line with the wider community. At the same time, you get a glimpse into school life through meetings with individual students from different eras.

We hope that the fall will make it possible to welcome you to more anniversary events.

For the anniversary committee
