Playing the guitar is something most people should have from a year at folk high school. You can start the elective with zero knowledge, and end up with enough guitar skills to be the center of the evening. You will learn how to play strings, chords, fingerpicking and how to take care of the instrument. It's useful if you have your own guitar.
